NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Sophomore forward Destini Texada was named Great West Second Team All-Conference, the conference office announced Tuesday evening.
Texada, who hails from Houston, Elsik High School, is a repeat Second Team All-Conference honoree.
She led the Huskies with 12.3 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game. In league play, she also led the team with 12.9 points per game and 7.9 rebounds per game.
She had five double-doubles this season, including four in a five-game span from Nov. 30 through Dec. 21. She scored a career-high 25 points at Lamar on Dec. 19.
Chicago State, the top seed in the tournament, had two First Team selections and three Honorable Mentions. The Cougars won three of the six major awards, as Courtney Waldon was named Player of the Year, Caila Desroches was named Sixth Woman of the Year and Angela Jackson won Coach of the Year honors. Utah Valley's Sammie Jensen was named Rookie of the Year while Defensive Player of the Year honors went to South Dakota's Jodie Boss.
HBU, the seventh-seed in the tournament, will face second-seeded South Dakota later today, March 9, at 3:30 pm CST from the UCCU Center in Orem, Utah.
