Baseball Falls to Sam Houston State

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Sam Houston State pounded out 14 hits, while holding Houston Baptist to only five in a 13-0 shutout in non-conference baseball Tuesday night at Don Sanders Stadium.

 

Junior shortstop Collin Hetzler went 2-for-4 as the only Husky with multiple hits.

 

Ryan Mooney went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored for Sam Houston State (2-2), while Mark Hudson went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Greg Olson went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs and RBIs, while John Hale went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

 

Cody Dickson (2-0) picked up the win for the Bearkats, allowing two hits and striking out seven in four innings, and Caleb Smith allowed two hits in three innings of relief. Sophomore Tyler McCarty (0-1) took the loss for HBU (0-4), giving up seven runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings.

 

The Huskies return to action when they host Bryant in a three-game series Friday through Sunday at Husky Field.
