ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Houston Baptist shot a season-low 19 percent from the floor and was held to a season-low 31 points in a 67-31 loss to Navy, before nearly 2,000 fans at Alumni Hall on Dec. 2, on the opening day of the Navy Classic.

Shanice Steenholdt recorded her fourth double-double in the last five games for HBU (0-8), as she scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Brittany Barton finished with five points and Emily Jenkins tied a career-high with four points and set a new personal best with six boards while playing in a season-high 29 minutes. The Huskies converted a season-low 17 turnovers and grabbed a season-high 21 offensive rebounds. The 43 total boards were three shy of the season-high of 46 set at Rice.

Navy (3-3) was led in scoring by both Audrey Bauer and Alix Membreno with nine points apiece. Jade Geif scored seven points and snatched a team-high eight rebounds. M.L. Morrison came off the bench to score six points, grab six boards, block three shots and record one assist and one steal. Navy shot 48 percent from the field in the game, 42 percent in the first half and 57 percent in the second.

Navy scored six of the game's first eight points, three-and-a-half minutes into the game, before HBU used an 8-0 run to take a 10-6 lead with 14:57 remaining in the opening half. Steenholdt scored seven of the Huskies' 10 points, with Maisie Elston scoring the other three on a trey to give the Huskies the four-point advantage.

The Midshipmen scored 10 straight points to take a 16-10 lead, prompting the Huskies to take a timeout, with 10:33 left in the first half. Five different Mids contributed in the run.

Following the timeout, Steenholdt hit a three to cut the deficit to three, 16-13, before Bauer answered with a trey of her own. A jumper by Steenholdt at the 7:19-mark cut the Navy lead to 21-15, before Navy started double-teaming the freshman forward, not allowing her to score the rest of the half.

With the Huskies' big scorer shut down, Navy went on a 10-2 run for the remainder of the half to lead by 13, 31-17. Kara Pollinger scored four of the 10 points for the Mids.

Steenholdt scored 12 of the Huskies' 17 points in the first half and also grabbed nearly a third of the Huskies' rebounds, with seven. She was shut down in the second half, only scoring three points and recording five rebounds. Bauer led Navy in the first half with seven points, while Geif had a team-high six rebounds.

Navy got off to a scorching start to begin the second half, scoring the first 10 points of the half, prompting HBU to take a timeout, with the Huskies down 41-17 with 16:40 remaining in the game.

A Joselyn Pugh jumper at the 15:07-mark gave the Huskies their first points of the half, but it was answered by a three-pointer by Erin Edwards.

Navy scored six-straight points to lead 50-19 before HBU answered with a 7-0 run to trail by 24, 50-26. Brittany Barton scored five of the points in that run, including a three-point play. Devyn Weymouth also had a bucket.

That was all the closer the Huskies got the remainder of the game, as the Midshipmen closed out the game with a 17-5 run to defeat the Huskies, 67-31.

HBU will look to regroup and face a George Washington team that defeated Maine earlier in the day, 54-46. Danni Jackson and Megan Nipe each scored a game-high 10 points for the Colonials. Tip-off between the Huskies and Colonials is set for a 5 pm central time start on Dec. 3.
