“I thought we moved forward as a program since two nights ago at SFA,” said head coach Mary Gleason. “I'm proud of our team. UH is a good-shooting team with a deep bench. We fought hard and played hard for 40 minutes. It was good to see Tia step up and contribute both offensively and defensively.”
UH led the Huskies 37-22 at the break as Scott hit two of her first three first-half three pointers in the first four minutes of the game, giving the Cougars an early lead they would not relinquish.
Scott led all scorers with 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting and 3-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Mason led all players with nine rebounds. Jackson led the Huskies with nine points and four rebounds.
Turnovers plagued the Huskies in the early going of the second half, as UH forced five in the first seven minutes as the Cougar lead reached 20. HBU pulled to within 17, but could get no closer.
HBU (2-12) will travel to Lubbock to face Texas Tech on Monday, Jan. 3 at 7 pm.
