Houston - Head golf coach David Shuster has announced the signing of Balbina Guajardo and Kelsey Lou-Hing to National Letters of Intent which will bring both players to HBU to join the women's golf program beginning with the 2009-10 school year.
From Monterrey, Mexico, Guajardo is currently ranked 25th internationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard and is the eighth-ranked international player in the high school class of 2009. She finished in a first-place tie at the Mexican Zona Norte Tour and placed second at the MJGA Guadalajara Junior Golf Challenge. Guajardo is an honor roll student and is member of her school's Community Service Learning program.
Shuster said “Balbina is one of the top junior players in Mexico. She is a real solid player with a great swing and great fundamentals. I really like her approach to her short game. I think she could be a really great addition for us.
Lou-Hing is the 34th-ranked international player by Junior Golf Scoreboard and the top-ranked woman in Trinidad and Tobago. She is currently studying at the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head, S.C.
“Kelsey is coming out of the Hank Haney Academy and in the school's class of 2009, only two other women are ranked ahead of her. She will be spending the year there going through the learning process developed by the man who is Tiger Woods' coach. I am excited about Kelsey coming in and adding depth to our women's program,” added Shuster.
