COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The HCU cross country squad opened the 2026 season at the Aggie Opener in College Station, where freshman
Ariadna Navarro earned seventh overall in the women's 2-mile race with a time of 11:01.9. Through the mile mark, Navarro also led the entire women's field.
In the men's 5k race, newcomer
Grant Currier sat in 27
th place through 2k meters but fought back and jumped eleven spots to finish 16
th with a time of 15:56.6.
This season, the Huskies are led by two seniors. On the women's side,
Jazlynn Estrada aims to set new personal records in her last season as a Husky.
Colby Kurtz leads the men's squad this season and got off to a strong start with an 18
th overall finish in the men's 5k race, running a time of 16:05.4
Husky XC returns to competition next weekend on Friday, Sep. 11 at the Rice Invitational, with the first race starting at 6:20 pm.
