COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The HCU cross country squad opened the 2026 season at the Aggie Opener in College Station, where freshman Ariadna Navarro earned seventh overall in the women's 2-mile race with a time of 11:01.9. Through the mile mark, Navarro also led the entire women's field.

In the men's 5k race, newcomer Grant Currier sat in 27^th place through 2k meters but fought back and jumped eleven spots to finish 16^th with a time of 15:56.6.

This season, the Huskies are led by two seniors. On the women's side, Jazlynn Estrada aims to set new personal records in her last season as a Husky. Colby Kurtz leads the men's squad this season and got off to a strong start with an 18^th overall finish in the men's 5k race, running a time of 16:05.4

Husky XC returns to competition next weekend on Friday, Sep. 11 at the Rice Invitational, with the first race starting at 6:20 pm.
