HOUSTON – HCU fought the visiting Rice Owls to a 1-1 draw at Sorrels Field on Thursday evening with junior Zylee Dominguez finding the net and junior goalkeeper Emmy McKeon tying a career-high with 10 saves.
 
HCU (1-1-1) got three saves from McKeon in the first 15 minutes before Dominguez hit paydirt with the team's first shot of the evening with an assist from Paisley Barela in the 17^th minute. McKeon went on to stop two more shots in the first half as the Huskies took a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
 
Rice (1-1-1) got its tying goal less than two minutes into the second half when Valentina Labuschagne putting the Owls on the board. Rice put five more attempts on target in the final 45 but McKeon was up to the task to secure the draw.
 
McKeon's 10 saves matched her career-high and is tied for the most by a Southland Conference goalkeeper so far this season. Dominguez's goal was her first of the year and second of her career.
 
The tie broke a seven-match winless stretch for the Huskies against the Owls.
 
The Huskies will next host Louisiana Tech at Sorrels Field on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 5:00 p.m.
