AUSTIN, Texas – HCU women's soccer opened the 2026 season on Wednesday evening, falling to the Texas Longhorns by a 3-0 final at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The Longhorns (1-0) took an early lead with Amalia Villareal scoring from outside the penalty area to the top right corner in the third minute. Goal number two belonged to Sadie Hoch who let fly from the top of the arc, placing her shot just inside the right post at the 37:00 mark, giving the hosts a 2-0 advantage over the Huskies (0-1) at the half.
The third Texas goal of the game also came from distance as Kennedi Cotter sent a shot to the top shelf from the corner of the 18-yard box in the 84th minute.
The Huskies ended the night with three shot attempts, all by junior Zylee Dominguez. The Longhorns held a 19-3 advantage in shot attempts with seven on goal. Junior goalkeeper Emmy McKeon finished the game with four saves.
HCU is in action back home in Houston on Sunday, Aug. 16, afternoon when the Huskies face off against Texas Southern at Durley Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
