MGOLF: Huskies Set for All-American Intercollegiate in Humble

HCU heads to the Golf Club of Houston after a runner-up finish at the Colin Montgomerie–HCU Invitational

HUMBLE, Tx. — The Houston Christian men's golf team returns to action on Monday and Tuesday at the All-American Intercolligiate, hosted by Houston at the Golf Club of Houston. The two-day event will feature 16 teams, with 36 holes scheduled for Monday, Mar. 16, and the final 18 holes set for Tuesday, Mar. 17.

The Huskies enter the tournament coming off a strong showing at their home event, the Colin Montgomerie–HCU Invitational, where they finished second with a three-round total of 848 (-4) at Sweetwater Country Club. HCU posted rounds of 279, 281 and 288 in that event and finished ahead of the rest of the field except Howard, while Brendon Willey recorded a runner-up individual finish at 201 (-12).

HCU's lineup for this week includes Brendon Willey, Brooks Pawlak, John "Cooper" Camp, Mason Napier and Roy Barrera IV. The Huskies have shown the ability to go low throughout the 2025-26 season, highlighted by a third-place finish at the
La Tour Intercollegiate in October, where HCU fired rounds of 279, 282 and 278 to finish at 862 (-25). The team's 278 in the final round of that event remains its lowest round of the season.

Brooks Pawlak enters the week with the team's lowest scoring average at 72.9 over 18 rounds. He has recorded nine par-or-better rounds this year and owns one top-five, two top-10 and one top-20 finish. Pawlak also posted one of the lowest rounds of the season for HCU with a 65 in the final round of the La Tour Intercollegiate, where he finished sixth overall at 207 (-9). He followed that with a top-10 finish at the Bentwater Intercollegiate and has consistently been among the Huskies' top scorers throughout the year.

Brendon Willey has also been one of HCU's top performers, averaging 73.6 strokes per round. He recorded a fourth-place finish at Border Olympics with a 210 (-3), including a second-round 68, and most recently placed second at the Colin Montgomerie–HCU Invitational with a 201 (-12). Willey has posted six par-or-better rounds this season and carries momentum into Humble after one of the best tournaments of his collegiate career.

Mason Napier brings a 74.4 scoring average into the event and owns the Huskies' lowest 54-hole total of the season at 205 (-11), which came during his third-place finish at the La Tour Intercollegiate. Napier also carded a 65 in the second round of that tournament and added a 69 in the final round. Roy Barrera IV is averaging 75.0 in limited action and is coming off a solid performance at the Colin Montgomerie–HCU Invitational, where he finished at 218 (+7) competing as an individual. John "Cooper" Camp rounds out the lineup with a 75.1 scoring average and has provided depth for the Huskies throughout the season, including a season-best 221 at La Tour.

As a team, HCU has recorded 30 par-or-better rounds in four-player scoring this season and has turned in several of its best performances in competitive fields. In addition to the runner-up finish at the Colin Montgomerie–HCU Invitational and third-place showing at La Tour, the Huskies also finished sixth at the Zach Johnson Invitational and have been tested in spring events at Bentwater and Border Olympics.

The field for this year's All-American Intercollegiate includes Odessa, Houston Christian, ULM, Texas State, Houston, UTRGV, Tarleton State, UT Arlington, Rice, Sam Houston, Lamar, Nebraska, Arkansas, North Texas, Abilene Christian and Eastern Michigan. The tournament includes nationally-ranked programs such as Arkansas (#4), Odessa (#2) and Rice (#49), giving the Huskies another strong challenge in the middle of their spring schedule.

HCU is scheduled to begin play at 8:00 a.m. on Monday. The Huskies will be paired with Texas State, North Texas and Odessa in the opening round. Brendon Willey will tee off on hole 14, Mason Napier on 15, Brooks Pawlak on 16, Roy Barrera IV on 17 and John "Cooper" Camp on 18.
