SUGAR LAND, Texas — The men's golf returns to action March 2–3 as it hosts the Colin Montgomerie Invitational at Sweetwater Country Club. The two-day event features a 16-team field and gives the Huskies the opportunity to compete on a familiar course in one of the premier layouts in the Houston area.
Sweetwater Country Club presents a demanding test with tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers and fast, contoured greens that reward precision off the tee and disciplined approach shots. With 36 holes scheduled for Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday, consistency and depth will be critical across all three rounds.
HCU enters the tournament following a 10th-place finish at the Border Olympics (888, +24) and an eighth-place showing at the Bentwater Intercollegiate (882, +30). Earlier this season, the Huskies posted their strongest team performance at the La Tour Intercollegiate, finishing third with an 862 (-25), highlighted by three rounds in the 270s.
Brooks Pawlak leads the Huskies with a 72.9 scoring average across 18 rounds. The junior recorded a season-low 65 at La Tour and finished sixth in that event at 207 (-9). Pawlak has produced nine rounds at par or better this year and has consistently paced the lineup in scoring.
Mason Napier has competed in 18 rounds with a 74.4 average and delivered one of the team's top individual performances of the season at La Tour, finishing third overall with a 205 (-11). He has seven rounds at par or better this season.
Brendon Willey carries a 73.6 average over 12 rounds and posted HCU's top spring individual finish with a fourth-place showing at the Border Olympics (210, -3).
Carter Patterson has logged 18 rounds with a 74.5 average and turned in a low round of 68 this season, while
Clayton Smith has averaged 72.7 through limited action, highlighted by a 70 at La Tour.
Julian Worrell has competed in nine rounds with a 75.1 average and earned a top-12 finish at the Zach Johnson Invitational earlier this fall.
Roy Barrera holds a 75.0 average in six rounds this season, and John "Cooper" Camp has posted a 75.1 scoring average across 12 rounds, including a 221 (+5) performance at La Tour.
