LAREDO, Texas – Houston Christian closed out the Border Olympics on Tuesday at Laredo Country Club, finishing 10th in a 13-team field at +24 (292-284-300—876).
The Huskies posted rounds of 292 and 284 on Monday before carding a final-round 300 on Tuesday.
Brendon Willey led HCU at three-under par for the tournament (71-68-71—210), finishing inside the top five individually. Willey recorded four birdies in the final round, including back-to-back birdies on Nos. 1 and 2, and added birdies on Nos. 11 and 17. He played the back nine in one-under 35 on Tuesday and totaled 11 birdies over 54 holes.
Carter Patterson turned in his best round of the tournament on Tuesday, firing a one-over 72 (78-78-72—228). Patterson opened with a birdie on No. 1 and added another on No. 6 on the front nine. On the back, he recorded birdies on Nos. 13 and 17 to highlight a 37 coming in.
Roy Barrera IV finished at +12 (73-78-74—225). In the final round, Barrera recorded birdies on Nos. 4, 7 and 10, carding a 35 on the front nine before closing with a 39.
Brooks Pawlak concluded play at +7 (77-68-75—220). Pawlak posted birdies on Nos. 4 and 18 in Tuesday's round and finished the tournament with eight birdies overall.
Mason Napier rounded out the lineup at +14 (71-80-76—227). Napier recorded birdies on Nos. 6 and 10 in the final round.
Host Houston captured the team title at two-under par, while Tarleton State and North Texas tied for second at even par.
Houston Christian will return to action March 2-3 at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas.
