CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The women's golf team closed out two rounds at the 2026 Islanders Collegiate Invitational on Monday at Corpus Christi Country Club, sitting in second place at +20 (299-297—596), just five strokes behind tournament leader UTRGV.
The Huskies improved by two strokes in the afternoon round and placed two players inside the top five individually through 36 holes.
Alejandra Ferrer leads HCU at +2 (74-72—146). After a three-over 39 on the front nine in Round 1, Ferrer turned in a one-under 35 on the back, highlighted by an eagle on the par-3 14th. She followed with an even-par 72 in the second round, recording three birdies and 13 pars to stay near the top of the leaderboard. Ferrer is tied for fourth entering the final round.
Alyssa Stewart is also at +2 (73-73—146) and tied for fourth. In the opening round, Stewart recorded birdies on Nos. 4 and 5 during a steady one-over 37 on the front nine before finishing at 73. In Round 2, she played the par-5 fourth in two-under and added birdies on Nos. 16 and 18, posting an even-par 36 on the back to secure another 73.
Natcha Makmanee sits at +6 (72-78—150). She opened the tournament with a one-under 35 on the front nine in Round 1, including birdies on Nos. 4 and 8, before closing with a 37 to card an even-par 72. In the second round, Makmanee added birdies on Nos. 14 and 16.
Serena Churchill stands at +13 (83-74—157) after cutting nine strokes off her opening round. Churchill bounced back in Round 2 with a steady even-par 36 on the front nine, highlighted by a birdie on the par-4 sixth, and added a birdie on No. 16 on the back to post a 74.

Sara Pihlajamaki is at +8 (75-77—152),
Hailey Hendershott sits at +15 (77-82—159), and
Abigail Inocian stands at +20 (84-80—164), and
Abigail O'Brien rounds out the team scoring at +15 (80-79—159). She recorded a birdie on the par-4 12th in Round 1 and added another on No. 16 in Round 2.
HCU will tee off Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. paired with UTRGV and Texas A&M–Corpus Christi in the final round as the Huskies look to close the five-shot gap at the top.
