FRISCO, Texas – HCU junior
Mike Sylvalie was named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week following a big performance this past Saturday in the Huskies' 16-2 home win over Nicholls.
Sylvalie finished the game with a career-best eight tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a QB hurry as the HCU defense kept the Nicholls offense from registering a single point. The junior's two sacks were for a total of 15 yards with the second a strip sack that resulted in a turnover on a late fourth down try by the Colonels in HCU territory. Sylvalie now leads the SLC with five sacks this season and his six tackles for loss are tied for third-most in the league.
Sylvalie is the second HCU player to earn SLC Defensive Player of the Week honors this season, joining teammate
Jayven Anderson who earned the award following the Huskies' week 0 upset road win over Southeastern.
