HOUSTON – HCU placekicker
Lukasz Smolen has been named one of 41 kickers on the 2026 Fred Mitchell Award Watch List announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Smolen connected on his first 10 field goal attempts this season before missing a 43-yard try in HCU's most recent win over Nicholls. Five of Smolen's 10 field goals have been from longer than 40 yards. Additionally, he is 20-of-21 on extra point tries and has totaled 50 points through the first six games of the season. His 50 total points are tied for the most in the Southland Conference and 25
th nationally.
In six games, Smolen is averaging 1.67 field goals per game which is tied for seventh-most in the FCS.
