DALLAS, Texas – HCU women's soccer visited ACC-member SMU on Thursday evening, falling by a 3-0 final at Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium.
The Mustangs (4-2) struck in the 14
th minute when Nyah Rose found the net with assists from Lydia Ungashick and Sammy Nieves. The first HCU (2-4) shot was an attempt on target from
Cloe Baugh at the 25:52 mark. That was the lone attempt of the match by HCU while
Terra Rybuck made three additional saves to keep the score at 1-0 at the half.
HCU saw
Tiana Thompson attempt a pair of shots in the second half in the 74
th and 76
th minutes, putting one of those on goal. The Mustangs added their second and third goals off the feet of Claire Jones and Liz Eddy.
Rybuck made five saves in more than 66 minutes in goal while freshman
Savannah Epting made her first collegiate appearance in goal, playing more than 23 minutes and making three saves.
SMU put 11 of its 27 shots on goal while the Huskies finished with two of their three attempts on target.
The Huskies next head to Louisiana for a match in Baton Rouge against Southern on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 1:00 p.m.
