HOUSTON – Houston Christian University dropped a 3-0 decision to College of Charleston on Thursday afternoon at Sorrels Field.
College of Charleston clawed out in front in the 18
th minute. Bubbles Dever dropped off a nice pass to the left flank finding Faith Slimmer who blasted in a shot just past
Emmy McKeon to give the Cougars a one-nil advantage.
Charleston came out of the break quickly. A long throw in on the right side by Casey Malone found Maggie Heffernan in the box, and she knocked in the header to give the visitors a two-goal lead. An own goal with 10 minutes remaining provided the final score.
The Cougars (1-1-1) were in attacking mode from the get-go, putting up 20 total shots on the afternoon, 10 in each half.
McKeon had seven saves for the Huskies.
Olivia Rossman had two shots and
Katya Alexis added one for HCU.
The Huskies go to 2-3-0 on the season. HCU will return to the pitch on Sunday when it faces Southern University. Kick-off for the matinee is slated for 1 pm.
