FRISCO, Texas – HCU senior
Alexia Murillo has earned the first Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor following a 1-1 opening weekend for the Huskies.
Murillo scored HCU's goal in a 2-1 season-opening loss at Rice, playing all 90 minutes. Then, on Sunday afternoon, the Huskies fell behind 2-0 in the first 14 minutes but Murillo helped lead a defense that limited Tarleton State to just two shots on goal over the final 76 minutes as HCU fought back for a 3-2 road win.
Murillo and the Huskies are set to host Grambling this Friday, Aug. 22, at 5:00 p.m. at Sorrels Field before heading on to Abilene, Texas to take on Abilene Christian on Sunday.
