SB: HCU places 13 on Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete list

Most in program history; fourth time with double-digit honorees

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Houston Christian University had 13 student-athletes named as the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete lists for the 2024-25 academic year have been announced. The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories, as 9,199 student-athletes were given honors for this past academic year.

Mary-Ellen Hall's program had a program-record 13 players selected with the academic honors, which recognize student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for the year. It is the fourth time in school history to have 10 or more earn the honors in one season and third in the last five years.

Addy Prasifka led the group, earning the third accolade of her career while Kynleigh Evans, Breana Herrera and Haylie Savage were each recognized for the second time. Nine were bestowed honors for the first time in their career: Jocelyn Briseno, Keely Castillo, Jaycee Foor, AB Garcia, Leah Hammack Christin Haygood, Mackenzie Morris, Cara Pitman and Zaria Turner.

There have been 60 different HCU student-athletes honored on 121 different occasions since 2010. The Huskies have had at least seven honorees 10 times in the last 14 years and have had 10 or more four times overall, thrice in the last five seasons. The 13 this season is the most in school history, eclipsing the 11 honorees in both 2013 and 2021.

HCU was the top SLC school in the overall team GPA listings as the Huskies recorded a 3.53 cumulative GPA as a team for the 2024-25 academic year.
