WGOLF: Huskies Set to Compete at Southland Conference Championship

HCU prepares for three-day tournament in San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, Tx.  – The HCU women's golf team is set to compete at the 2024 Southland Conference Championship, held April 14-16 (Monday-Wednesday) at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos.

Kissing Tree, a semi-private par-72 course that opened in 2018, stretches from 4,955 to 6,522 yards. Tee times for the first and second rounds will begin at 1 p.m., while third-round tee times are scheduled to start at 7:40 a.m.

This year's field features eight teams, including Augusta University, Houston Christian, UTRGV, East Texas A&M, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and Incarnate Word.

Last year, the Huskies finished fourth at the 2023 Southland Conference Championship. HCU improved in each round, posting scores of 318-311-303 to close the tournament at 80-over par. Alejandra Ferrer led the way with back-to-back top-10 finishes at the conference championship, tying for ninth place. She carded rounds of 77, 80, and 75 to finish in 10th.


This year's lineup features Natcha Makmanee, Lou Rousselot, Alyssa Stewart, Hailey Hendershott, Alejandra Ferrer, and Abigail Inocian as the sub.


In their most recent outing, the Huskies placed 13th at The "Mo" Morial, hosted by Texas A&M at Traditions Club, finishing with a total score of +104 after rounds of +32, +44, and +28.


Freshman Ploy Makmanee led HCU with a 14th-place individual finish at +15, recording rounds of 79, 76, and 76. Her second round featured a one-under 35 on the front nine, highlighted by three birdies. In the final round, she added a birdie on the par-4 third and logged five consecutive pars.


Lou Rousselot finished in 56th place with a total score of +30 (82-80-84), notching a birdie on the par-4 13th after a tough stretch on holes 9 and 10.


Hailey Hendershott closed in 62nd place at +32 (78-93-77), bouncing back with a strong final round that included birdies on the par-5 10th and par-3 11th, along with four consecutive pars.


Alyssa Stewart finished 66th with a score of +34, posting rounds of 86, 85, and 79.
