BSB: Huskies Fall to UTSA on the Road

HCU's offense held to five hits as Roadrunners surge early

SAN ANTONIO – HCU baseball fell to UTSA, 12-1, on Tuesday night at Roadrunner Field, as the Roadrunners' offense surged in the second inning and never looked back.

UTSA (5-2) broke the game open with a six-run second inning, highlighted by Caden Miller's two-run triple and Drew Detlefsen's three-run homer. The Roadrunners tacked on another run in the third with an RBI single by Mason Lytle before Detlefsen struck again in the sixth, launching his second three-run homer of the night to extend the lead to 10-1. A two-run triple by Whitt Joyce in the seventh sealed the victory.

HCU (2-5) got on the board in the fifth inning when Rhett Hendricks tripled and later scored on a groundout by Trevor Roper. The Huskies managed five hits on the night, with Jack Walker collecting two of them.

UTSA's James Hubbard (1-1) earned the win, allowing just three hits and one run over five innings while striking out seven. Jett Feltman (0-1) took the loss for HCU after giving up six runs, three earned, in one inning of work.

HCU will look to bounce back when it returns home for a three-game Southland Conference series against UIW, beginning Friday, February 28, at 2:05 p.m.
