BSB: Huskies Drop Road Matchup to ULM in Late-Inning Battle

Huskies' strong pitching performance falls short in late innings against Warhawks

MONROE, La. – Houston Christian continued its season on Friday afternoon at Lou St. Amant Field, taking an early lead but falling 4-1 to ULM after a late three-run triple by Ian Walker.

HCU (3-2) got on the board in the third inning when Rhett Hendricks launched a solo home run to left field, a 369-foot shot on the first pitch of his at-bat. The Huskies' pitching, led by Parker Edwards, held ULM (4-1) in check until the sixth, when the Warhawks evened the score with a two-out RBI single from Carson Lunsford.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the eighth. After a hit-by-pitch and an error put two runners on, ULM loaded the bases for Walker, who ripped a three-run triple down the right-field line to give the Warhawks a 4-1 lead.

Edwards had an impressive outing, striking out seven and allowing just one run on three hits over six innings. Ben Norton (0-1) took the loss, surrendering three unearned runs in two relief innings.
HCU managed just three hits in the game, with Jack Walker and Robert Oropeza each adding a single alongside Hendricks' home run.

The Huskies will look to bounce back on Saturday, with first pitch set for 10:30 a.m.
