HOUSTON – This Saturday afternoon the HCU football team will take on the No. 19 Southeastern Lions at Husky Stadium for a 2:00 p.m. Southland Conference matchup. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Nicholas Pietrzycki handling play-by-play duties with Jackson Cochran providing analysis. Fans can also tune into the game on Patriot Talk 920 AM.
 
The Huskies (2-5, 1-2 SLC) suffered a 27-0 loss last Saturday at McNeese but got a 130-yard rushing effort from redshirt freshman Xai'Shaun Edwards who was named to the Jerry Rice Award watch list on Wednesday morning. The Jerry Rice Award is presented annually to the top freshman in the FCS. Edwards currently ranks eighth in the nation in rushing yards (755) and rushing yards per game (107.9) and 11th with eight rushing touchdowns. Those numbers all leads the SLC.
 
Rodney Dansby surpassed 400 career tackles last weekend and now stands at 401 career tackles. He needs just 14 more tackles to catch Brennan Young for second on the all-time list. Deuce McMillan also hit a milestone, surpassing 100 career receptions. His 101 catches rank third all-time and he is just four yards away from moving into fourth in career receiving yards.
 
Southeastern (5-2, 3-0 SLC) comes into the game ranked 19th in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll and boasts a 5-0 record against FCS opponents. Senior defensive lineman Kaleb Proctor leads a defense that has shutout its last two opponents with five sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss this season.
 
Offensively, quarterbacks Carson Camp and Kyle Lowe have combined to complete 67.9 percent of their passes for 1,530 yards, 14 touchdowns and just three interceptions. Junior Jaylon Domingeaux has caught six touchdown passes on 26 total receptions with 386 yards receiving.


HCU heads back to Louisiana the following weekend for a Saturday, Nov. 1, contest in Thibodaux, La. against the Nicholls Colonels at 3:00 p.m.
