Arlette Concepcion claimed the individual win and the HCU women's cross country team earned the team win while the men finished second on Saturday at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede.
The HCU men and women combined had eight runners post top-10 finishes with four per team. The women won their 5k race with an impressive 31 points while Louisiana came in right behind them with 34. The HCU women had a total team time of 1:28.29. The men, meanwhile, finished second in the four-mile race with 44 points behind the Ragin' Cajuns with 24 points.
Concepcion's outstanding performance won the women's 5k by more than 20 seconds with a PR time of 16:44.7 for her second individual win in as many races this season. She won the season-opening UIW Twilight, as well.
Destiny Quintanilla and
Eline Mast placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with Quintanilla posting a time of 17:33.7 and Mast finishing in 17:39.0.
Katherine Rogers crossed the finish line in 17:55.9 to place eighth with
Elena Farinholt recording a time of 18:35.6 to place 16
th as HCU's fifth scorer.
Leading the men was sophomore
Colby Kurtz for the second-straight race, placing third overall with a time of 19:29.1 while teammate
Raphael Aureau came in right behind him, clocking in at 19:30.2. Edouard Lecrivan finished eighth with a time of 19:42.3 and
Alex Piquart crossed the line in 10
th with a PR time of 19:59.0. The final scoring Husky runner was
Jaxson Artisst, posting a time of 20:34.3 and placing 19
th.
HCU has nearly three weeks between races now, heading to Bryan-College Station, Texas on Friday, Oct. 18, for the Arturo Barrios Invitational hosted by Texas A&M.
