SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Senior Arlette Concecpion earned an individual win while HCU's cross country teams had a solid opening meet on Friday night at the UIW Twilight with both the men's and women's teams finishing in the top five.
Concepcion paced the field and won the women's 4K by more than nine seconds with a PR time of 13:44.1. Freshman
Katherine Rogers came in 10th with a time 14:37 and
Sarah Moya Oliva placed 18
th, finishing in 14:42.
Macie Hunter and
Elena Farinholt also had notable finishes at 37th and 38
th, placing in the top half of the 79-person field. The HCU women took fifth place in the with an average top-5 time of 14:45 and a total of 104 points.
On the men's side, the Huskies also placed fifth with an average top-5 time of 19:02 in the 6K race and a total of 132 points. Junior
Krzysztof Turski led the Huskies, finishing 23rd with a time of 18:49. Senior
Edouard Lecrivain came in 26th with a time of 18:51 while right behind him was
Alex Piquart, taking 27th with a mark of 19:00.
Colby Kurtz secured 30th place and
Albin Wallenius finished 33rd.
HCU's next event is the Rice Invitational on Friday, Sept. 6, at 6:00 p.m. in Houston.
