Houston Christian University Head Coach
Ryan Pratt has announced two more signees on Wednesday afternoon to his recruiting class for next season. Local product Daniel Ejerenwa and Rio Pemberton are slated to join the Huskies for the 2024 campaign.
Â
Ejerenwa will come to HCU from state power Seven Lakes High School in Katy, which has won the last four District 19-6A titles. The 6'1 midfielder/defender helped lead them to the 2023 6A State title, and has them poised to defend that title this year.
Â
He becomes the second player from the Katy district to sign with the Huskies for next season, joining Belmont-Abbey transfer Sebastian Rodriguez, who played at rival Cinco Ranch High School.
Â
PRATT ON EJERENWA:
Â
"Daniel is a very strong, powerful and athletic defender who can also play in the attack as a wingback. He has great potential to add a lot of quality to our defense as well as create opportunites attacking out to the back. We are so happy Daniel will be joining the Husky family."
The 5'10 winger/midfielder hails from Bury and attended Woodhey School. He has played club with Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End and most recently Atherton Collieries. Â
Â
Pemberton is the second newcomer in the recruiting class from England, joining early signee
Morgan Worsfold-Gregg, who hails from Hampton in Greater London.
Â
PRATT ON PEMBERTON:
Â
"Rio has the ability to unlock defenses and will add a spark, some excitement and creativity to our attack. We are looking forward to seeing his impact within our team and the OVC.

Â
The two additions push the current recruiting class to seven. They join the aforementioned Worsfold-Greg and
Sebastian Rodriguez as well as Freddy Ferguson, Armando Torres Cruz and Simeon Dishman, all of whom are currently on campus for the Spring semester.
Â
The Huskies lost just six seniors off of the 2023 squad that went 4-8-6 in the program's first season in the Ohio Valley Conference. The club does return OVC Midfielder of the Year
D'Alessandro Herrera as well as OVC Freshman of the Year
Ryan Okerayi, each of which were selected to the All-OVC First team.
