Houston Christian University Head Coach
Ryan Pratt announced four new additions to the 2024 recruiting class on Sunday afternoon. Transfers Sebastian Rodriguez, Freddy Ferguson and Armando Torres Cruz as well as freshman Simeon Dishman have all joined the program for the Spring semester.
Rodriguez just completed his sophomore season at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina. The 6'0 defender played 27 matches with 23 starts over two seasons with the Crusaders. He amassed 1663 minutes, including seven 90-minute outings last season, the last of which was a 110-minute effort in the season finale. The Katy, Texas native was a four-year starter at Cinco Ranch High School, where he scored 16 goals and had 20 assists in his career.
Coming to the Huskies from Ashburn, Virginia is Freddy Ferguson. The 5'8 midfielder played his freshman season at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia. He made five starts with one assist amongst his 11 appearances for the Keydets on the season.
Armando Torres-Cruz was a sophomore defender at national power University of Portland. He played in four games last year after sitting out as a freshman on the 2022 NCAA national tournament quarter-finalists. The 6'0 Torres-Cruz hails from Chihuahua, Mexico.
The final of the latest additions is Simeon Dishman. A 5'8 left-footed midfielder, Dishman hails from Atlanta, Georgia where he attended North Paulding High School and played his club ball for NTH Nasa.
"We are truly excited to bring these four to campus for the spring. Simeon is an exciting young player, and we are getting three transfers in Freddy, Sebastian and Armando who will add experience and quality to what is still a quite young roster. We look forward to having them join our guys and hit the ground running." - Head Coach Ryan Pratt
The four additions push the class to five. They join
early-period signee Morgan Worsfold-Gregg, who is also already on campus for the Spring semester.
The Huskies are coming off their first campaign in the OVC, in which they went 4-8-6 overall. The team lost just six seniors off this year's squad but will return OVC Midfielder of the Year
D'Alessandro Herrera and OVC Freshman of the Year
Ryan Okerayi, both of whom were selected to the All-Ohio Valley Conference First Team.
