MSOC: Quartet of summer signings announced by Pratt

Recruiting class grows to 14



Houston Christian University Head Coach Ryan Pratt announced on Tuesday morning the addition of four more signings to the 2026 recruiting class in transfer Danny Isaac and first-year collegians Jess Degenaers, Leo Makatta and Luca Pintus.

Isaac is a 6'2 forward who is transferring from perennial NCAA power University of Kentucky, where he saw action in six matches last year for the Wildcats. The London, England native has played his club soccer for Huddersfield Town and Cobham FC.
 
A 5'10 midfielder/forward, Degenaers comes to the Huskies from Antwerp, Belgium and played most recently with Willem II U21.
 
Makatta, is the second London signee in the group. The 6'1 forward most recently played for Colchester United.
 
Pintus joins the Huskies from Cagliari, Italy. The 5'11 defender has spent his club time with his local affiliate, Cagliari Primavera.
 
The total incoming crew from England for 2026 grows to five with the additions of Isaac and Makatta, giving the Huskies nine total players on the roster from the UK. HCU's roster this season will now feature players from nine different countries. It is the most in 10 years at the helm for Pratt, whose program's have had representation from 19 different countries all told. 
 
Isaac becomes the eighth transfer to join the Huskies for the upcoming season, while Degenaers, Makatta and Pintus push the rookie class to six. The quartet moves the 2026 recruiting class to 14 total players, as they join previous signees:

HCU finished its third season in the Ohio Valley Conference with an 11-5-3 mark overall and a 5-3-2 ledger in the league. The Huskies recorded the most victories in a single season since the 1990 team won 14 and are now 10-5-5 in league play over the past two seasons.
 
The Huskies claimed half of the leagues six major awards and for the second straight season had seven players earn honors. D'Alessandro Herrera was named Midfielder of the Year for the second time, Alex Aitken collected Goalkeeper of the Year honors and Joby Reid was named Freshman of the Year, the third straight season for HCU to claim that honor. Ryan Okerayi and Nico Kross joined Herrera and Aitken on the All-OVC first team, with Ricardo Garcia being named to the scond team. Reid and Ben Thirkill were selected to the All-Freshman squad.
 
Herrera signed to play for the Houston Dynamo 2 in January. The Dynamo currently reside atop the Western Conference in the MLS Next Pro table.

The Huskies advanced for the second straight year to the Ohio Valley Conference championship match, both of which have gone double-overtime with this being the first in the three years of the OVC to go to penalties.
