SUGAR LAND, Texas – The Huskies return to action hosting the Sugar Land Classic at Constellation Field, home of the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, on Friday (2/23) through Sunday (2/25). The six-team tournament field will consist of HCU, Lamar, SFA, UTSA, UIC, and Creighton.

The Huskies (3-2) are led by
Dylan LaRue hitting .412 average with seven hits, six runs, three walks, two RBIs, and a double.
Tyler LaRue is batting .385 average with six RBIs, five hits, three walks, two runs, a double and a home run. HCU has 11 pitchers with a perfect era through five games including three pitchers with a win (
Mark Lopez,
Nicholas Willard, and
Cash McNicholas).
The University of Illinois-Chicago (2-2) is led by Zane Zielinski averaging .538 on the season with seven hits, five RBIs, two runs, two walks, a double and a triple. Jackson Bessette is hitting .500 average with nine hits, four runs, two RBIs, and two doubles. Right-hander Dillon Schueler started game one for the Flames, earning the win pitching five innings with one earned run on three hits with a strikeout. Two UIC pitchers still hold a zero era through four games.
The Lamar Cardinals (2-2) are led by Jack Schell hitting .385 average with five hits, four walks and two runs while Kanin Dodge has driven in two runs batting .333 average with a home run, a double, and two runs. Left-hander Hunter Hesseltine (1-0) leads the Cardinal bullpen pitching five shutout innings against North Alabama in the final game of the Mobile Baseball Tournament on opening weekend.
SFA (3-3) is led by Colton Griffin batting .478 average with 12 runs, 11 hits, seven walks, five RBIs, two home runs and a triple. Cole Hill is hitting .407 average with 11 hits, 10 runs, six RBIs, five walks and a homer. Four Lumberjack pitchers hold a zero era through six games including Carter Hines who pitched four innings on opening day with seven strikeouts and two walks.
UTSA (2-3) is led by Matt King hitting .368 average with seven hits, four RBIs, four runs, a walk and a double. James Taussig is batting .350 average with seven hits, seven RBIs, a run and a double. Zach Royse (1-0) pitched game two of opening weekend against UTA tallying 5.2 innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts.
Creighton (2-0) is led by Big East Player of the Week, Tate Gillen, hitting .714 average with five hits, five RBIs, four runs, a triple and a home run in the Bluejays season opening series against Coppin State. Nolan Clifford averaged .429 with four runs on three hits with three RBIs, three walks, and a home run. Dominic Cancellie pitched four shutout innings to start the game in the 24-0 win for the Bluejays on opening day. Cancellie recorded four strikeouts and no walks to earn the win.
