MBB: Cottrell announces addition of transfer Dominic Capriotti

Capriotti comes from PHHoenix Prep program that has produced current Huskies Tristan Moore and Pierce Bazil

HOUSTON – Ron Cottrell, HCU James Sears Bryant Head Men's Basketball Coach, announced the signing of Dominic Capriotti to join the Huskies program on Wednesday afternoon.

Dominic Capriotti – Tempe, Arizona (Skyline High/PHHoenix Prep/Oakland University), 6'3, 185, Guard

A 6'5, 195 lb. guard from Tempe, Arizona, Capriotti is transferring to HCU after redshirting as a freshman in 2022-23 at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.

Capriotti attended Skyline High in Tempe where he was East Valley Region Offensive Player of the Year. He earned First Team All-Region and All-State honors while leading the state in three pointers made.

He then transferred to PHHoenix Prep, the same program that has produced current Huskies Tristan Moore and Pierce Bazil. He spent his senior season and a prep year there, and as team captain averaged 21 points, five rebounds and three assists per game. Capriotti finished his high school career as a 1,000-point scorer, averaging 18 points per game.

Capriotti on HCU:

"There were many great reasons I chose HCU. The relationship formed with Coach Cottrell and Coach Jud was very important. And the style of basketball they play fits me very well, giving me a great opportunity to succeed. They have produced many well touted players that have a similar game to me and I believe I can be next up in their program!"

Cottrell on Capriotti:

"Dom is a terrific addition to our program.  He is a bigger guard with really good strength, a high basketball IQ and deep shooting range.  Dom's 3-pt shooting ability earned him recognition as one of the top shooters in Arizona coming out of high school.   Dom is another in a long list of PHHoenix Prep (AZ Select) kids who have had such great success with us.  Dom literally grew up playing in their program with his dad as the head coach of his team.  Dom's year at Oakland University allowed him the time to grow and adjust to the rigors of D-1 basketball.  We couldn't be happier to have Dom join us at HCU."
