MBB: Huskies place trio on All-Academic teams for second straight season

Bryson Dawkins selected to first team; Brooks and Pierce Bazil on second team

FRISCO, Texas --- Houston Christian University placed a trio of players on the Southland Conference All-Academic teams for the 2024-25 season as announced by the league on Friday morning. Bryson Dawkins, Elijah Brooks and Pierce Bazil were named to the two teams, marking the second straight season for HCU to have three players awarded.

Dawkins was named to the first team while carrying a 3.545 GPA in Interdisciplinary Studies. A first-team All-Southland selection following the completion of the season, the Dothan, Alabama native averaged 14.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals while playing 31.1 minutes per game.

Elijah Brooks and Pierce Bazil were selected to the second team. A junior from Topeka, Kansas, Brooks holds a 3.44 GPA in Interdisciplinary Studies, while Bazil, a junior from Lincoln, Nebraska, has a 3.61 GPA in Biblical Studies and was one of five repeat selections.

It is the second time overall in program history to have three selections, as Bazil, Chigozie Achara and Tristan Moore were named last year. It also represents the fourth time the Huskies have placed at least two players on the All-Academic teams as a member of the Southland Conference. Reveal Chukwujekwu and Colter Lasher were named in 2016-17, while Ian Dubose and Oliver Lynch-Daniels earned honors in 2018-19.
