WGOLF: HCU in 4th at ULM Invitational, Rousselot in 3rd Individually

WGOLF: The Huskies are 19-shots back heading into final round

MONROE, La - The Huskies sit in fourth place at the ULM Invitational through 36-holes. HCU fired a first round 12-over par, 300, and a second round eight-over par, 296, to sit 19-shots behind the leaders, ULM, heading into the final round tomorrow.

Sophomore Lou Rousselot leads the Huskies after posting a one-under par, 71, in the first round and a one-over par, 73, in her second round to sit in 3rd place heading into the final 18 holes. Rousselot carded three birdies in her opening round at the 2nd, 12th, and 17th holes. Rousselot continued her great form in the second round, recording another three birdies at the 2nd, 9th, and 16th holes.

Senior Elise Parel shot a first round two-over par, 74, with a birdie at the 7th, and back-to-back birdies at the 14th and 15th holes. Parel followed up with a second round even-par, 72, recording two birdies at the 12th and 15th holes. Parel is tied for 5th place heading into the final round.

Sophomore Jackie Nguyen sits in a tie for 18th after rounds of four-over par, 76, and two-over par, 74. Nguyen made three birdies in the first round at the 9th, 12th, and 17th holes, and added two more to her total in the second round, including birdies at the 1st and 15th holes.

Freshman Alejandra Ferrer opened the tournament with a nine-over par, 81, including two birdies at the 6th and 16th holes before bouncing back with a five-over par, 77, in her second round. Ferrer is currently tied for 40th headed into the final round.  

Junior Rocio Comparini rounds out the Husky lineup currently sitting in a tie for 45th individually after rounds of seven-over par, 79, and 10-over par, 82. Comparini birdied the 2nd and 7th holes in her opening round, before making a birdie at the par-3, 15th hole, in her second round.

Freshman Josalyn Keller, playing as an individual, carded a first round eight-over par, 80, before bouncing back in her second round to an four-over par, 76, with a birdie at the par-3, 15th hole. Keller is tied for 34th place individually with 18 holes to go.

ULM holds a 15-shot lead at one-over par, 577 team total, over Sam Houston State who currently sit at 16-over par, with a 592-team total. Missouri State are currently in third place at 19-over par, recording a 595-team total. ULM's Chantal Dueringer and Alessia Mengoni hold a two-shot lead at two-under par over HCU's Lou Rousselot at even-par.

HCU will play the final round of the ULM Invitational on Tuesday, April 4th teeing off starting at 8:33 a.m. HCU will play alongside Arkansas State and South Alabama.
