IRVING, Texas – A trio of seniors from HCU's 2022 roster,
Spencer Blake,
Vernon Harrell, and
Brennan Young, have been named to the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society.
Blake, an offensive lineman, owns a perfect 4.0 GPA while working toward his Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. In 2022, Blake played in 10 games and made three starts. During his three seasons with the Huskies he appeared in 23 games and was named to multiple Dean's Lists and was also inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Student-Athlete Honor Society.
Harrell, a wide receiver, is working toward his Master of Business Administration with a GPA of 3.28. A five-year letterwinner, Harrell closed his career with 69 receptions for 827 yards with three touchdowns in 32 games played. In 2022, he appeared in all 11 games with 10 starts and finished first on the team with 461 yards on 35 catches.
Young, a linebacker and captain on the 2022 team, earns a spot while boasting a 3.72 GPA while earning his MBA. He wrapped up his career second in program history in tackles, with 414, and tied for third in sacks, with 8.5. Last season, Young finished with 94 tackles to rank second on the team and was a Southland Conference All-Academic selection for the third time in his career. He was also named to the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team for the third time, earned CSC Academic All-District recognition and was a finalist for the Doris Robinson Award.
HCU now has 17 all-time members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society.
