Samuel Benjamin led the way going 2-for-4 with two runs for the Huskies (2-18). Redshirt junior third baseman
Reed Chumley went 1-for-4 with a homerun and two RBIs while senior designated hitter
Tyler LaRue pinch hit for the Huskies with a two RBI' home run in his only at bat. Senior first baseman
Parker Edwards added another homerun to his total of five, going 1-for-4 with three RBIs.
Freshman righthander
Jonathan Valdez (0-3) took the loss pitching two relief innings giving up five earned runs on three hits with two walks and a strikeout. Freshman righthander
Baylor Baumann started the game for HCU giving up four runs on seven hits with five walks and four strikeouts in five innings of work.

Jose Gonzalez led the way for the Bobcats (15-6) going 3-for-5 with four RBIs, two runs, and a triple. Chase Mora went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs, a home run, and a walk while Cade Manning went 3-for-4 with three runs, two home runs, two RBIs, and a walk.
Otto Wofford (2-0) earned the win for Texas State pitching one shutout inning of relief with a strikeout. Peyton Zabel pitched four shutout innings, to start the game for the Bobcats, on two hits with three strikeouts.
Texas State got on the board early when Kameron Weil was walked to score Chase Mora and Davis before Powell singled to center field scoring Rashawn Galloway and Cade Manning in the bottom of the second. The Bobcats added another run in the bottom of the fourth when Weil doubled to right center scoring Ryan Leary. Texas State retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning starting with a triple to center field by Jose Gonzalez scoring Powell and Leary before Gonzalez scored on a wild pitch. The Bobcats scored two more in the bottom of the seventh inning on back-to-back solo home runs by Mora and Manning. Texas State finished the game with four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning starting with a single through the right side by Gonzalez scored Powell and Weil before Gonzalez scored on a ground out to third base off the bat of Mora. The Bobcats final run came off a solo home run by Manning.
HCU will open conference play with a three-game series against UIW scheduled for Friday, March 24
th through Sunday, March 26
th in San Antonio, Tx at Daniel Sullivan Field.
