COLLEGE STATION, TX - HCU men's and women's cross country teams ran their final race prior to the 2023 Southland Conference Championships on Friday with finishes at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M University.
JuniorÂ
Arlette Concepcion finished 79th in a women's 6K featuring a whopping 387 finishers with a total time of 20:58.1. SophomoreÂ
Destiny Quintanilla recorded a time of 21:55.7 to finish 184th and sophomoreÂ
Elena Fairholt crossed the line with a time of 23:14.7. FreshmenÂ
Jazlynn Estrada  and
Makenzie Blan did not finish the race.
In the men's 8K among 365 finishers, freshmanÂ
Abderahman Benfodda bested his previous career time set in his last race, finishing 155th with a time of 25:06.6 to lead the Huskies. Not far behind, Senior
Justice Artisst crossed the line 12 spots back at 167th with a time of 25:10.3. FreshmanÂ
Colby Kurtz also recorded his career-best time, clocking in at 25:55.0 in 250th place. SeniorÂ
Isaiah Price came in 269th with a time of 26:08.8, and juniorÂ
Krzysztof Turski crossed the line in 264th at 26:24.8. FreshmanÂ
Jaxson Arisst wrapped up the Huskies' contingency with a time of 27:14.9.
Among the men, HCU finished 35th in a race won by Tulane. In the women's race, the Huskies did not record a team score due to its two DNF's. Utah Valley took the event with 97 points.
The Southland Championships begin October 27 in Windcrest, Texas. It will mark the second trip to Windcrest for the Huskies in 2023 after running in the UIW Invitational in September.
