HAMMOND, Louisiana – The HCU women's basketball team hits the road for the first time on the Conference schedule to face the Southeastern Lions at 5pm Thursday night in the University Center. 
 
HCU (6-6, 1-0 SLC) won the opening game of the Southland schedule for the third season in a row. They beat the New Orleans Privateers last week 68-59 after leading for nearly the entire game. 
Julija Vujakovic had a season high with 18 points and four rebounds. 
Marilyn Nzoiwu had her best game of the young season, finishing with 15 points and 11 boards, her second double-double of the season.  
 
Southeastern (6-5, 1-0 SLC) won their opening Southland contest on the road against Nicholls, 57-49. Hailey Giaratano finished with 15 points to lead SLU.  
 
The Huskies and Lions split last season's series. Southeastern held HCU to just 30 points on offense and took game one 52-30 before the Huskies answered a week later with a 51-40 win. 
Enya Maguire, 
N'Denasija Collins and Vujakovic combined for 39 points to lead the Huskies. Maguire finished with her season high in points (14) and rebounds (6).  
 
Players to watch for the Huskies include Vujakovic who is averaging a team-high 13.1 ppg. Collins follows closely behind with 12.3 ppg and leads the team in rebounding with seven per game. Nzoiwu and 
Abbey Sutherland are the anchors on defense with 12 and 11 blocks respectively. 
Kennedy Wilson is averaging just under nine points per game and has dished out 22 assists on the season. 
Enya Maguire leads a strong bench unit averaging 6.5 points per game and is shooting 44 percent from distance.  
 
Alexius Horne averages just over 12 ppg for Southeastern. Chrissy Brown is averaging 7.5ppg and leads the Lions in rebounding, collecting 6.5 per contest.  
 
HCU heads to New Orleans this Saturday to take on the Privateers for the second time in the last three games.
