HOUSTON – McNeese scored four runs in fourth and broke the game open with eight runs in the fifth to clinch the Southland Conference series with a 16-6 victory over HBU Friday afternoon at Husky Field.

Kevin Ortiz went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and scored twice, while junior leftfielder
Caleb Munton went 2-for-2 with an RBI and scored a run for the Huskies (18-33, 11-12 SLC). Junior second baseman
Austin Roccaforte went 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice and senior catcher
Dawson Woods was 1-for-1 and drove in a pair.
Senior righthander
Jared Burch (1-4) took the loss, allowing seven runs, five earned, on five hits with three strikeouts and three walks in three innings.
Kade Hunter was 2-for-3 with two home runs, six RBIs and scored three times for the Cowboys (29-21, 14-9). Andruw Gonzales was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs and Braden Duhon went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and scored three runs.
Burrell Jones (3-0) picked up the win, allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits with five strikeouts and a walk in 3.1 innings of relief. Andrew Sheridan notched his first save, holding HBU to one run on three hits with a strikeout over the final three innings.
The series concludes with a 1 p.m. start Saturday on ESPN+. HBU will honor 16 members of the team on Senior Day, with festivities beginning at 12:45 p.m.
