HOUSTON – New Orleans scored four in the second and six more in the third en route to an 18-3 win over HBU in the Southland Conference series opener Friday afternoon at Husky Field.
Junior designated hitter
Brennen Bales went 2-for-3 and scored twice, while sophomore second baseman
Sebastian Trinidad doubled and walked twice for the Huskies (8-18, 2-2 SLC). Junior first baseman
Tyler LaRue tripled, drove in a run and scored and senior rightfielder
Jake Miller doubled, walked and drove in a run.
Junior righthander
Daxton Tinker (0-4) took the loss, allowing six runs, five earned, on four hits with four strikeouts and four walks in two-plus innings.
Kasten Furr went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, five RBIs and scored three times, while Travis Gober went 3-for-4 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs for the Privateers (15-9, 2-2). Tyler Bischke was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and scored four times and Miguel Useche singled and scored three times. Issac Williams hit a three run home run and Anthony Herron Jr. added a solo blast.
Tyler LeBlanc (4-0) earned the win, allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks in six innings.
The series continues with a 1 p.m. start Saturday.
