MCALLEN, Texas – The HBU women's golf team posted the lowest team round of the tournament with a 295 to rally from a five-stroke deficit to tie Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, then went on to defeat the Islanders in a playoff to claim its first tournament victory of the season at the UTRGV Invitational Monday at McAllen Country Club.

Elise Parel posted her seventh career top-five finish with a second-place showing, while freshman
Lou Rousselot posted her highest finish since joining the Huskies this spring by tying for third.

HBU and TAMU-CC tied with a total of 920, four strokes head of Utah Valley, five ahead of Illinois State and six ahead of UIW and Creighton.
Utah Valley's Leighton Shosted won the individual title at 8-over par 224, finishing one stroke ahead of Parel at 225. Rousselot was tied at 226 with Creighton's Eleanor Hudepohl, UT Rio Grande Valley's Samantha Garza and Tarleton's Mathilde Brogens.
The Huskies will host the HBU Husky Invitational March 14-15 at Riverbend Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas.
