HCU gives up a PK goal in the 65th minute

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – HCU out-shot the hosts but came out on the wrong end of a 1-0 decision in Southland Conference women's soccer play on Sunday afternoon at UIW's Benson Stadium. Houston Christian University (HCU), formerly Houston Baptist University (HBU), underwent a name change in September 2022.

The Huskies (3-7-3, 3-3-1 SLC) put 10 shots attempts toward the UIW (2-7-3, 1-4-3 SLC) goal with four on goal while the Cardinals put all seven of their shot attempts on target. The game-winner came in the 65th minute after a handball call in the box. UIW's Sierra Wannamaker converted the ensuing PK attempt.

HCU's Mia Salas had three shot attempts on goal while Ryan Ford had the Huskies' other shot on goal. In goal, Chloe Bagshaw recorded five saves with the PK as the only blemish.

The Huskies make their final road trip this coming weekend with a pair of matches in Louisiana. On Friday, Oct. 14, HCU will play McNeese in Lake Charles, La. before heading to Hammond, La. to take on Southeastern on Sunday, Oct. 16.
