WBB: Huskies Add TAMCC to Schedule Amid Cancelations

Huskies and Islanders tip off Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. in Corpus

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – In the midst of the Southland Conference Preseason tournament and five games in a row being canceled, the Huskies have added a road game against the Islanders, Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., to their schedule.
 
The Huskies (4-6, 0-0 SLC) have had their last five games canceled due to health and safety protocols, and haven't seen the floor since December 11th.
 
The last time HBU was on the floor, they were victorious against Southwestern Assemblies of God (TX), 64-54. The Huskies were led by Julija Vujakovic's game high 16 points on three made threes and a double-double from N'Denasija Collins (14 points and 12 rebounds). Kennedy Wilson was also electric from the floor, knocking down five of her ten shots from the field for 12 points while adding five boards, two assists, and one steal.
 
For the season, Marilyn Nzoiwu leads the Huskies in blocks with 13 while Enya Maguire is tied for second in assists with 18. As a team the Huskies are shooting 35.4 percent from the floor and 27.4 percent from deep while knocking down 75.1 percent of their foul shots. Defensively, they are holding opponents to 35.6 percent shooting from the floor and just 25 percent from distance. Opponents have knocked down just 67.1 percent of their foul shots so far this season.
 
The Islanders (5-6, 0-0 SLC) have had their last two games canceled due to health and safety protocols and will take the floor for the first time since December 21st when they were on the road against UH.
 
The Islanders are led by Alecia Westbrook who is averaging 13.1 points per game and Makinna Serrata who averages 12.7 points per game.
 
The Islanders shoot 39.9 percent from the field and hold their opponents to 37.6 percent shooting. As a team they have knocked down just 24 percent of their shots from deep while allowing over 30 percent shooting from three points range to their opponents.
 
The will be the Huskies' last chance to tune things up before official SLC action begins December 15th on the road against McNeese.
