SAN ANTONIO, Texas – In the final non-conference game of the season on Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Park West Athletics Complex, the HBU women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against the host Roadrunners.
Facing a UTSA (5-2-1) team whose only two losses to this point in the season have come against Big 12 opponents, the Huskies (0-5-2) struck first for an early lead. HBU earned a corner kick in the 16
th minute and off the corner,
Mia Salas lofted the ball into the six-yard box and junior
Anna Briseno found the net with a header for her first career goal.
The equalizer for the Roadrunners came late in the 62
nd minute when Ellis Patterson beat HBU's
Karla Ramirez to the upper right corner. Ramirez was busy for the Huskies, finishing the day with seven saves with UTSA attempting 29 total shots. The HBU keeper made three more saves in the two overtime periods to preserve the tie.
The Huskies finished the game with six shot attempts and Briseno's goal the only attempt on goal. UTSA's 29 total shot attempts were a season-high for the Roadrunners. UTSA also earned 10 corner kicks to HBU's four.
