HBU Huskies (9-10, 5-7 SLC) vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders (6-12, 4-6 SLC)

HOUSTON – The HBU women's basketball team will host the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders for their final game of the regular season in Sharp Gym on Saturday, March 6 with a 2 p.m. tip-off. The Huskies will be recognizing manager Breigh Richardson before the game for Senior Day.
The Huskies (9-10, 5-7 SLC) last saw action to the Islanders just five days before on March 1 falling in the matchup 50-43 at the Dugan Wellness Center in Corpus Christi. Sophomore Kennedy Wilson led the Huskies with 14 points on the game with four steals going 4-for-10 in the field and 3-for-4 at the three-point line. Sophomore Timia Jefferson added 11 points and three steals while senior Patience Idoko had nine points. Junior Marilyn Nzoiwu posted 14 boards and three blocks while sophomore N'Denasija Collins posted 11 boards on the game. HBU shot 24.1 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from the line. The Islanders outrebound the Huskies 45-to-37 while the Huskies forced 14 turnovers compared to HBU nine.
The Islanders (6-12,4-6 SLC) had three players in double-digit points with Makinna Serrata leading the way with 16 points and eight rebounds and Alecia Westbrook with 10 points, five assists, and eight rebounds. The Islanders shot 35.2 percent from the field and 10-for-13 at the line.
The Huskies seek a victory to secure a spot in the 10 team 2021 Southland Conference Women's Basketball Tournament, March 10-14 at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas. The Tournament opens with game one on Wednesday, March 10 with No. 8 seed vs. No. 9 seed at 11 a.m. followed by No. 7 seed vs. No. 10 seed at 2 p.m. for game two.
