HBU Huskies vs. Incarnate Word Cardinals

SAN ANTONIO – The HBU women's basketball team heads to face off with Incarnate Word for the first time this season. The Huskies come off a loss to the Islanders on Monday night and look to maintain a position to qualify for the 10 team 2021 Southland Conference Women's Basketball Tournament. The teams will face off in the McDermott Center on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. in San Antonio after not having matched up in almost a year on March 4 of 2020.
The Huskies (9-9,5-6 SLC) continue to be led by Timia Jefferson who holds her streak of double-digit points after not having scored in their first game against Rice. She averages 15.6 points in SLC play and leads with 44 steals on the season and is second on the team with 37 assists. Kennedy Wilson adds 11.5 points per game in SLC play with 35 steals and leads the team with 59 assists. Marilyn Nzoiwu leads the conference with 33 blocks on the season while leading the team in SLC play with 8.9 rebounds after back-to-back performances with double digit rebounds. N'Denasija Collins posts 7.7 rebounds per game with her added average of 9.9 points in SLC play.
UIW (5-7,3-4 SLC) has only competed in seven SLC games with 15 of their combined preseason and conference scheduled games canceled or postponed. They are led in SLC play by Jaacuklyn Moore averaging 12.1 points and 21 assists. Destiny Terrell averages 8.8 points with Star Omozee just behind with 8.0 who also leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game. The Cardinals come into the game after back-to-back losses and are also seeking for a spot in the tournament.
The Huskies will finish regular season play in a home game rematch against the A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 6 in Sharp Gym.
