Freshman Evelyn Slaughter scores her first career goal

HOUSTON – HBU got a goal from freshman Evelyn Slaughter but the Huskies fell 3-1 to Houston on Thursday evening at Carl Lewis Stadium in the team's first game of the spring season.

The Cougars (1-0-0) jumped out to an early lead with a goal in the seventh minute off the foot of Zionah Browne. UH expanded its lead with goals in the 19th minute and then late in the half, finding the net during the 43rd minute. Following that third goal, HBU (0-1-1) recorded its first shot attempt of the game with Slaughter finding the net with an assist from Noor Abukishk to cut the HBU deficit to two. In the second half, the Cougars managed the period's only shot on goal with HBU's Karla Ramirez making the save.
