HAMMOND, La. - HBU heads back to Louisiana to take on 11th-ranked Southeastern in Southland Conference football Saturday at 4 p.m. at Strawberry Stadium. The Husky Sports Network audio broadcast with Garrett Jones can be heard on HBUHuskies.com, while the game will be shown live on ESPN+.
 
True freshman quarterback Orion Olivas is set to make his first career start for the Huskies (0-5, 0-2 SLC), after completing 15-of-33 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown last week against Northwestern State. Senior running back Dreshawn Minnieweather rushed 10 times for 47 yards in his return to action. Sophomore Tyson  Thompson leads HBU with 21 catches for 228 yards and ranks second in the league in both kickoff and punt return average. Freshman Charles King has 22 catches for 213 yards and four touchdowns, catching a TD in each of the first four games of his career.
 
Senior linebacker Brennan Young ranks third in the league and 21st nationally with 9.4 tackles per game and also has two sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and has blocked a kick. Sophomore safety Isaiah Cash has made 40 tackles and senior safety Coi Miller has 39. Junior defensive lineman Kyler Baugh leads the Huskies with 2.5 sacks and senior defensive end Vejon Wallis has four tackles for loss, including a pair of sacks.
 
Senior punter Brady Buell is averaging 43.14 yards on 36 attempts, while junior kicker Gino Garcia has made 6-of-7 field goals.
 
Cole Kelley leads the conference in passing, completing 164-of-220 for 1,999 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions, while also leading the Lions (4-1, 2-0) in rushing with 58 carries for 203 yards and seven touchdowns. Taron Jones has rushed for 148 yards and four scores. Austin Mitchell has 33 catches for 434 yards and four touchdowns, while CJ Turner has 23 catches for 392 yards and four TDs.
 
Alexis Ramos leads SLU with 32 tackles, while Alphonso Taylor has 26 stops and a pair of interceptions. Zy Alexander also has two interceptions and has forced a fumble. Tainano Gaulua leads the Lions with two sacks.
 
Austin Dunlap has averaged 42.75 yards on eight punts, while Mateo Rengifo has made both of his field goal attempts.
 
SLU has won all six meetings against HBU, including a 62-52 shootout in the last meeting in Hammond in 2018.
 
The Huskies will be back at home next week to face Nicholls for the second time this season.
