LUBBOCK, Texas - HBU will face a "Power 5" conference opponent for the first time in program history when it takes on Big 12 Conference foe Texas Tech Saturday at 7 p.m. at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Senior quarterback Bailey Zappe completed 39-of-62 passes for 480 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in last week's season-opening 57-31 loss at North Texas. Senior wide receiver Ben Ratzlaff caught six passes for 108 yards and a touchdown, while junior Jerreth Sterns made 11 receptions for 93 yards.

Senior linebacker Caleb Johnson led the Huskies (0-1) with 12 tackles, junior linebacker Brennan Young and sophomore safety Tra Fluellen had eight each. Senior safety Patrick Wolfe came up with the lone turnover of the game, an interception to set up HBU's first touchdown.

Senior punter Blake Patterson averaged 45.2 yards, with a long of 50, on four punts and put all five kickoffs though the endzone for touchbacks. Sophomore kicker Gino Garcia was 1-of-4 on field goal attempts, connecting on a 50-yarder, but missed on another from 50 and also from 30 and 43 yards.

Texas Tech (0-0) will be hosting HBU in its season opener and the only non-conference game on its schedule, following the Big 12's "9+1" model.

Alan Bowman takes over the reins of the offense after making three starts last year and completing 101-154 passes for 1,020 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. SaRodorick Thompson led the Red Raiders  with 765 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, while also making 39 catches for 154 yards. Erik Ezukanma is the leading returning receiver, making 42 receptions for 664 yards and four touchdowns.

Riko Jeffers anchors the defense, making 76 tackles in 2019, while Eli Howard led TTU in sacks with 5.0. DaMarcus Fields is the returning leader in interceptions with three, after the departure of Douglas Coleman, who had eight.

Saturday marks the first-ever meeting between the two schools, but there are a few familiar faces to TTU on the HBU sideline. Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Zach Kittley is the son of longtime Red Raiders track coach Wes Kittley, special teams coordinator and running backs coach Tyler Schovanec is the on of Texas Tech president Dr. Lawrence Schovanec and offensive line coach Jared Kaster was a four-year letterwinner at center for the Red Raiders. All three previously served on the TTU staff.

The Huskies finish off their three-game FBS slate at Louisiana Tech Saturday, Sept. 26, at Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston.
