On March 14, the Southland Conference announced all remaining competitions and championships for the 2020 season would be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Several HBU seniors in men's and women's golf, track and field, beach volleyball, softball and baseball had just begun their final seasons and did not have the opportunity to complete their athletic careers and compete for a conference championship.
HBU Athletics is honoring each of those seniors with their own Senior Day here on
HBUHuskies.com. Each weekday over seven weeks, a different senior will be featured, so please make sure to retweet, like and reply to the Twitter post to show them how much you support them and appreciate how much they have meant to the HBU community.
OF Jordan Blackmon - Baseball
Jordan Blackmon has faced challenges with injuries during his two years at HBU, limiting him to 10 games.
In 2019, the Dallas native played in 10 games, hitting .200 with a .333 on-base percentage, two triples, an RBI and a run scored. Against Sam Houston State on March 10, he went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. He would see action in the Southland Conference series the following weekend, but missed the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.
This year, Blackmon was again dealing with an injury and had yet to appear in a game.
"HBU has helped me grow as a person and made me learn to strive and know that I'm capable of achieving anything I put my mind to," Blackmon said. "If I'm able to play again next year, I'm looking forward to playing a healthy season, show the world what I can do, as well as creating a bond with my teammates and help lead us to something special."
