METAIRIE, Louisiana – The HBU Huskies finish out The Big Easy Classic with a 3-0 shutout against the Alabama A&M ending the 2020 opening weekend. The Huskies ended the weekend going 4-1 outscoring opponents 27-7.
In the first inning of Sunday morning's game with two outs freshman
Katy Schaefer singled to right field giving the Huskies their first runner. Next batter,
Autumn Sydlik doubles down the left field line sending Schaefer to third who later scored on a wild pitch in the next at bat giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
The Huskies added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning by a
Heidi Jaquez double who was advanced to third on a Schaefer single after
Avery Drake reached base on a catcher's interference.
Autumn Sydlik hits a SAC Fly that scored Jaquez and advanced Drake to third on the play increasing the lead to 2-0.
Jasie Roberts follows with an RBI single scoring Drake giving the Huskies a 3-0 lead.

Lyndie Swanson pitcher her first collegiate complete game shutout only giving up one hit with one walk and three strikeouts on the day.

Jasie Roberts went 7 for 12 batting .583 on the weekend hitting two doubles with one RBI and scored five times.
Shelby Echols went 6-11 batting .545 hitting two doubles with one RBI and scored twice.
Avery Drake went 7-15 batting .467 and hit two doubles with two RBI's and scored three times.
Riley Bullen went 7-16 batting .438 hitting two doubles and one homerun driving in five RBI's and scoring five times.
Amber Lotz went 6-14 batting .429 and hit one double with one RBI and scored four times.
Heidi Jaquez went 7-18 batting .389 hitting two doubles while driving in seven RBI's and scoring six times.
