HOUSTON, Texas – The Huskies fell short to the Northwestern State Lady Demons 54-46 at home in Southland Conference basketball Saturday afternoon.
The Huskies (5-16, 1-11 SLC) led after the first half 24-23 but fell short after a strong Lady Demon comeback early in the third quarter. HBU was led by junior guard Megan Valdez- who scored eight points with three assists and four rebounds. Sophomore forward Marilyn Nzoiwu helped keep the game close in scoring seven points with six rebounds and recording four blocks.
The Lady Demons (6-16, 3-10 SLC) had two players in double figures. Kira Bonner led the game with 18 points while gathering five rebounds and two steals. Jasmyn Johnson scored 11 points and recorded seven rebounds with one block and three steals.
The Huskies are on the road to Abilene, Texas to face the fourth place Abilene Christian Wildcats this Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. in the Moody Coliseum.
