ABILENE, Texas – The HBU Huskies fell to the Abilene Christian Wildcats, 71-54 on Wednesday evening in Southland Conference basketball.
The Huskies (5-17, 1-12 SLC) junior guard
Megan Valdez-Crader scored a team leading 15 points while collecting three rebounds and one assist. Freshman guard
Timia Jefferson scored nine points and recorded two rebounds, one assist and two steals. Freshman forward
Abbey Sutherland recorded a career-high nine rebounds.
Wildcats' (18-4, 10-3 SLC) had four players score in double digits with Breanna Wright, ranked first in scoring in the conference, scoring a game-high 20 points with six rebounds, six assists and three steals. Lexie Ducat scored 14 points while grabbing eight rebounds with one block and one steal. Makayla Mabry nearly had a double-double on the night scoring 12 points while recording nine rebounds with one assist and a game high five blocks.
The Huskies return home for a "Play 4 Kay" matchup this Saturday against the Lamar Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. in Sharp Gym.
